Jake, Black Hills Raptor Series, Limited Edition print

One dollar from each print sold will be donated to the Black Hills Raptor Center.
And one print from each of the Raptors of the Hills Series (6 in total) will be donated to the center to be auctioned off at their annual fundraiser.

Jake is a beautiful and uniquely patterned Swainson's Hawk living at the Black Hills Raptor Center. This handsome young man was found in Gillette, Wyoming in 2024 at the base of a tree that had the nest with parents nowhere to be found. He quickly imprinted on his caregivers and

Jake comes from Gillette Wyoming, and his hatch day (birthday) was in 2024. He was found at the base of a tree that held the nest, but mom and dad were nowhere to be found. Jake imprinted on his caregivers and help teach the community about the raptors in our area.

Fun Fact about Swainson's hawks by BHRaptor Center:

"Swainson’s Hawks hunt using various raptor methods. Many still-hunt, watching for prey activity from a tree, bush, telephone pole, other high perch. Others hunt by soaring over open ground, stooping, and immediately transferring the prey to its beak. Ground hunting is common, too. While hunting on the ground, they appear awkward, but they often down several insects per day. They may also catch insects in flight, such as those turned up by farm equipment or driven out by fire."
